Although Bangkok has much sightseeing to offer tourists in the daytime, it is the city's nightlife that has earned it a reputation among party-seekers all over the world. Adult entertainment centers surrounded by shopping and night markets may be found around Silom Road (Patpong, Thaniya, Silom Soi 2 and 4), Sukhumvit (Soi Nana, Soi Cowboy, Soi 33) and Khao San Road. Pole-dancing and exotic performances abound in the go go bars. Opportunities to meet the dancers and take them out can be arranged through the bar's Mama-San. A "bar fine" of 600 Baht or US$14 is charged to the client to compensate for the value of drinks a dancer would have sold during the time that the dancer is not at the bar.
