MASSAGE PARLORSThere are two kinds of massage available in Bangkok: Traditional Thai massage originated 2500 years ago, and involves stimulating the points along 10 invisible energy lines throughout the body. This form of massage is known to promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing. You may find this massage offered at many places along Sukhumvit Road for a meager 250 Baht or US$5 an hour. Some hotels also offer traditional Thai massage in-house. After a long transcontinental flight, traditional Thai massage is a great way to begin one's relaxing vacation.

The
second kind of massage is called Body (or Soapy) Massage, commonly located
in the Ratchadapisek area of Bangkok. This more intimate form of massage
involves a sudsy bath with the masseuse, or two, of the client's personal
choice. After the bath, the client is led onto a rubber mattress for the
body massage. This whole activity from beginning to end may last between
half an hour to three hours. Rates begin at 1000 Baht or US$23. Most establishments
charge between 2500 to 2900 Baht. There are more expensive packages based
on suite rental or the masseuse's rates.
